Politics

This time without a self-deprecating headline.

So I start a lot of my political posts with a warning. I am a left leaning independent. If you are easily offended by that side of politics you may wish to skip this post. I'll have something you'll like better soon. (Also, why independent? Because neither political party is going to save you when it comes down to it.)

For the first time in a since 9/11, Department of Defense will not be getting more money. It's a start. The article specifically mentions cutting back on certain projects. Hopefully this will be the case rather then removing money from the soldiers and their supplies.

So Republicans made a budget rule where they must offset the cost of any legislation that would increase federal spending. Sounds good. Except that the rule doesn't count when it's something they want to increase spending on. Meet the new deficit same as the old deficit.

Come back John McCain, where's the guy who stood up to the Tobacco lobbyists? The guy who fought for what was right? The Daily Show introduces a new John McCain.
