Who's that Voice Actor?

Mick Foley as Mankind
While our group was watching through Avatar I started to wonder who did all the voice acting. Because sometimes I like to see what actors and actresses have done in other movies. But really what started it was seeing the name Mick Foley in the credits of one episode.

For those who don't know who Mick Foley is I found this blurb from this man's blog, and it's a better intro then anything I had come up with thus far...

Professional wrestling superstar turned bestselling author Mick Foley- widely known as WWE legend Mankind, a tortured soul in ratty clothes whose finishing move involved putting on a sock puppet and sticking his hand down his opponents mouth until they couldn't breath.

So imagine my surprise when finding out that he voiced the character of The Boulder. After watching the video you can probably figure out that the Boulder is supposed to be a parody of The Rock. According to Avatar Wiki Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was offered the part, but turned it down. It has been rumored this was due to him filming a movie at the time, I can't confirm these rumors. So in any case Avatar got one of The Rock's main rivals and Dwayne Johnson's good friend Mick Foley.

If you'd like to see Mick Foley as he is normally this video is a pretty good representation.

If you'd like to see a compilation of Mick Foley's craziest stunts of his career click here. Fair warning some of this video is extremely violent. You may say wrestling is fake, but this is a man who lost an ear in a match the 1980's and was known for doing things other wrestlers wouldn't even entertain the thought of.

I may make this into a series of articles, mostly because Avatar had some surprising voice actors (especially when you see what else they've done) playing some of the parts. I guess I should have known better then to start with the guy who used to be my favorite wrestler, when I used to watch it.

I'll probably be cutting back on soccer related article due to I'll be posting those kind of articles for Bundesliga Fanatic now.

  1. You know, Rowdy Roddy Piper lost partial hearing in one of his ears due to a notoriously brutal match with Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. Pro Wrestling may be staged and predetermined, but they really do beat the crap out of each other, sometimes.
