Children in Need

So every odd numbered year Britain has a charity event called Children in Need (aka Red Nose Day). Usually the cast of Dr. Who get involved. After the episode you are encouraged to donate to charities. Being an American I've only seen this on youtube, so sorry for the lack of info. These episode also happen about a month before the new season, two of the Dr. Who episodes happened this week. So here they are.

Link to site who was nice enough to post them for those of us outside the UK.

In this two part episode Amy Pond's skirt almost ruins the universe. Seriously, I can't explain Dr. Who you either get it or you don't. But here are some of the other specials through the years.

First up Curse of the Fatal Death from 1999. And yes that is Mr. Bean as Dr. Who. Also this was written by the current writer of Dr. Who. Also keep an eye out for Hugh Grant in the 2nd part. Keep in mind Dr. Who was not on the air when this was made.

In 2007. David Tennant (Doctor #10) played a school teacher who bears a bit of a resemblance to Dr. Who much to his students' delight. The main girl is played by Cathrin Tate who would be the Doctor's companion in 2008.

Also in 2007 the 10th Doctor met up with the 5th Doctor (Peter Davidson). David Tennant used to watch the 5th Doctor as a child. Tennant would later date and get engaged to the 5th Doctor's daughter. She played the 10th Doctor's clone/daughter in an episode. (Do you have all that? Good explain it to me.) I can only assume the meeting between the two off camera was interesting to say the least.

There are more, but these are the ones I remember fondly. So I hope you've enjoyed these videos and if you are awaiting the start of the new season (as is most of the Geek Streak staff) it kicks off on April 23rd (on both sides of the Atlantic for once), so don't worry, just remember to keep calm and come along.

*I apologize for the odd spacing in this article. Something about the embedded videos is making Blogger cranky.
